Timings Chart 11/12/13 (Wednesday) to 17/12/13 (Tuesday)

After managing to maintain my AIMs for the endurance test on BSL Pack 2, I tested maintenance on my BSL Pack 1 (reverse). As I had to do quite a few timings to hit my AIM, I decided to do another maintenance test on BSL Pack 1 (reverse) the next day. This showed me hitting my AIMS where I had 50 corrects and 0 LO. As I felt that this showed I could remember what I had learnt previously after some recall, I decided to test maintenance of my BSL Pack 1 (normal) as well. This test was conducted on Tuesday, and showed me hitting 60 corrects and  3 LOs in 1 minute. ImageImage

Timings Chart 4/12/13 (Wednesday) to 10/12/13 (Tuesday)

As seen from my SCC, I managed to reach my AIM for my number of corrects (AIM for Corrects : 50) for a while now. I also managed to reach my AIM for my number of LOs (AIM for LOs: less than 5). I plan to try and maintain my AIMS for the next 3 days, before conducting an endurance test on my current deck, where I will have to maintain my AIMS in the span of 2 minutes instead. If i managed to maintain my AIMS for the endurance test, I will then proceed to do a retention/ maintenance test on my BSL Pack 1 (Reverse). I will be following my previous trend of testing maintenance and stability of the previous pack (BSL Pack 1 – Reverse) after achieving my AIMs, where I hope to maintain my AIM of 50 corrects and less than 5 LOs that I achieved previously.

Here’s wishing me the best of luck! 🙂psue6b_10.15.2.23_2013-12-10_10.20.19.039_002psue6b_10.15.2.23_2013-12-10_10.20.19.038_001

Timings Chart 27/11/13 (Wednesday) to 3/12/13 (Tuesday)

As mentioned previously, my intervention this week was to set daily AIMS for myself using a x2 celeration line. after the intervention, it can be seen that there was a no jump turn up for my corrects, and a jump down turn down for my learning opportunities. I will continue testing myself this way until I have either reached fluency for my number of corrects or if my data remains constant for 3 days, where I will start doing more in depth aerocorrection procedures to bring down my learning opportunities.

Timings Chart 20/11/13 (Wednesday) to 26/11/13 (Tuesday)

I continued testing maintenance on 20/11 before switching to testing stability from 21/11 to 23/11. I tested stability by asking my group mate to try to distract me whilst I was doing my timings for the day. Other forms of distraction I tried were asking my flat mate to talk to me, and playing loud music whilst I was doing my timings. As seen from my charts, I managed to keep my corrects above 50, and my learning opportunities below 3.

After testing my endurance, maintenance, and stability on see say BSL Pack 1 , I decided to start testing myself on my new pack, see say BSL Pack 2. As mentioned in my previous post, this would consist of 70 new signs that were not included in the 1st pack. I started by doing 3 timings per day, plotting the best (Most number of cards gone through) on my SCC. Subsequently, I will draw a best fit celebration line on my SCC, aiming to hit my target everyday before stopping my daily testing.

British Sign Language SCC & Timings Chart (5)

Timings Chart 13/11/13 (Wednesday) to 19/11/13 (Tuesday)

As seen from my SCC and Timings Chart, I manage to meet my AIM of 40 corrects and less than 5 Learning Opportunities (LOs) on 12/11/13. However, as I felt that my LOs could be lowered, I decided to go through all the cards in the BSL Pack at least once before getting my flatmate to test me. As seen from the charts, I managed to lower my number of LOs.

As I managed to maintain my AIMs for 3 days, I decided to conduct an endurance test. This was done by conducting the timing for 2 minutes instead of 1 minute. As seen on my SCC, I managed to maintain my AIMs whilst conducting the endurance test. As such, I planed to test myself on the 1st deck (that I reached fluency previously) to test Retention before starting my new pack of SAFMEDS on BSL.

I tested my retention/ maintenance for BSL Pack 1, on 19/11/13 and managed to maintain my previous AIMs of at least 50 corrects and less than 5 LOs. As such, I will be switching to my BSL Pack 2 starting from tomorrow onwards. However, I will test my maintenance for my Reverse BSL Pack 1 when I reach fluency for my BSL Pack 2.

The new deck (BSL Pack 2) will consist of more BSL cards (70 cards) that was not in the 1st deck. The testing method will be SeeSay BSL, where I will be aiming for at least 50 corrects and less than 5 LOs.

Timings Chart 6/11/13 (Wednesday) to 12/11/13 (Tuesday)

As seen from my timings chart, after I switched my BSL SAFMEDs deck around so that I had to hear the word and do the sign, I decided to set daily aims for myself to meet by drawing a best-fit celeration line on my baseline (1st 3 timings). As such, it can be seen that my corrects followed a x3 celeration. As it took many tries for me to reach my aim daily (as seen from my SCC), I decided to change my Hear/Do to See/Do. This would be as I felt that I hit a ceiling to learning, where my tester (my flatmate) was taking a longer time reading the word to test me and checking my answers (signs) in correspond to the BSL picture. By switching from Hear/Do to SeeDo, this enabled my tester to check my actions more quickly, allow me to use less tries to reach my aim daily. As my number of corrects are rising while my number of learning opportunities seem to be staying at quite a constant level, I feel that my next intervention would be to go through all the cards in the pack 1 time before asking my flatmate to test me. Should you guys feel that any other intervention would be good, please let me know 🙂

British Sign Language SCC & Timings Chart (3)

Timings Chart 30/10/13 (Wednesday) to 5/11/13 (Tuesday)

As I managed to hit my aim and maintain my corrects at 50 and above, and keep my Los below 5 for at least 3 days, I decided to conduct an endurance test on 1/11/13 (Friday) and 2/11/13 (Saturday). This would be where I try to go through as many cards as possible in 2 minutes, dividing my number of corrects and LOs by 2 before plotting it onto my SCC. As seen in my SCC and Timings Chart, I managed to keep my number of corrects at 50 and above, while keeping my number of LOs below 5 as such, I decided to start on a new pack of cards on 3/11/12 (Sunday).

As seen in my previous post, my new pack of cards would consist of switching my old pack of British Sign Language cards around. This was done by asking my flatmate to time me daily, by saying the meaning of the sign placedon the back of the card, and watching me make the sign before placing the card in the correct or the LOs pile. As making the actions would take me more time as opposed to just saying out the meaning of the sign upon seeing the sign, I have decided to lower my aim to 40 corrects and keep my LOs aim at below 5.

As seen from the SCC, I started by first timing myself 3 times daily, plotting the best score each day on the SCC as my baseline before deciding whether an intervention would be needed. Wish me luck! 🙂

British Sign Language SCC & Timings Chart (2)

Timings Chart 23/10/13 (Wednesday) to 29/10/13 (Tuesday)

After reading through the comments my Triad Group provided, I had decided to carry out an Intervention on 25/10/13 (Friday). This would be as the data I had plotted on the SCC for Week 3 (baseline) consisted of a high number of Corrects, and Learning Opportunities (LOs). As such, I aimed to lower my number of LOs while increasing the number of Corrects with the Intervention.

The intervention consisted of looking through my entire deck of SAFMEDS, separating my corrects from my LOs, and going through my LOs over and over again until I managed to get all corrects for all cards in my pack at least once.

As seen from my SCC, I had a frequency jump up celeration turn up for my corrects and a frequency jump down celeration turn down for my LOs. This enabled me to reach my aim of 40 corrects. As such, I increased my aim to 50 corrects which I managed to meet on 28th October 2013. My aim now is to maintain my corrects at 50 and keep my LOs below 5 for at least 3 days. Upon achieving this aim, I plan to switch my British Sign Language deck around, where instead of saying the meaning of the sign upon seeing the sign, I will make the sign upon seeing the word.

Project Idea

Screen Shot 2013-10-14 at 2.38.26 PM

For my learning project, I would like to learn sign language.

In order to learn this, I will be using the seesay method. This will be done by making SAFMED cards with pictures of the different signs taken from the British Sign Website placed on the front of the card, while placing what the sign represents at the back of each card. I will be using 1 minute timings, 3 times a day, calculating the number of corrects and learning opportunities that I get within that minute a day. My aim is to achieve at least 40 correct within a minute with a maximum of 4 learning opportunities.
